LORE
The patron of altered minds has come to be known by different names. Followers and believers call her Vexani, while those who have been granted her blessing call her Mother. Perhaps unlike other gods, Vexani has remained, for the most part, in one place: Solvunn. She moves about the different settlements and even crossing the waters towards the Lunae, though is likelier to be found in the woods within the territory, where trees and flowers bloom regardless of the season.

Vexani is sought out during rites calling forth for future visions and fortunes. She grants the believer with a vision, but whether it is real or not falls under the discretion of the receiver. She is called upon, too, during times of grief; she poses illusions to mend broken hearts, to lessen the pain of loss, and grant moments of reprieve to those who are suffering. She carries particularly great benevolence for women who have lost their children and for orphans.
ATTRIBUTES
unraveling or breaking illusions; altering reality to demonstrate truth; seeing through illusions.
cheap or unsettling imitations; fracturing images or reality; rearranging memories or experiences.
benevolent towards orphaned children and childless mothers in particular.
appearance
True to her arcanum of The Hanged Man, Vexani travels via a golem-like creation that imitates the form as seen on a tarot card. She takes many forms, being the patron of altered minds and—thus—illusions, morphing back and forth between them: she will walk the woods in the barest forms, wearing red veils, long black dresses that flow unnaturally, horned wimples/crowns that cover her eyes, and dark adornments. When her eyes are visible, they are usually just white spots amidst a dark visage. She bears long, blackened claws, at times multiple hands, and horns on her head that are hidden away by becoming part of what adornments she wears. Usually, she'll be barefoot, though admittedly she can make herself hover instead of walk. Her hair will have a cosmic haze trailing behind her.

abilities
WEIRD Drawing on the deepest fears of an individual, illusory creatures are formed in their minds, visible only to them. The illusion calls on the individual's deepest fears, manifesting its worst nightmares as an implacable threat. This is similar to her abilities as a mortal, but they are not a lot more powerful and those with weak (and even strong) minds will find a hard time escaping from her illusion trap.
FORESIGHT Vexani's touch allows the willing to be able to see into the immediate future. It is not certain how accurate these readings might be, as it is up to her and, by whim, she might try to steer someone in a specific direction that she deems fits them best.
MIND BLANK This ability allows the one affected to be immune to psychic damage, any effect that would sense its emotions or read its thoughts. This, in a way, is her own way of shielding herself from others.
REVERSE GRAVITY This spell reverses gravity in a given space. All creatures and objects that aren't somehow anchored to the ground in the area fall upward and reach the top of the area when you cast this spell. Similar to her telekinesis, but grown in ten-fold now.
TRUE RESURRECTION This spell is used scarcely by Vexani. In touching a creature that has been recently dead, and if the creature's soul is free and willing, it is then restored to life. This spell closes all wounds, neutralizes any poison, cures all diseases, and lifts any curses affecting the creature when it died. The spell replaces damaged or missing organs and limbs. It doesn't work on humans.
rituals
  • Followers travel across the land to complete one ritual procession, enacting the symbolic love journey of their deities. Due to Vexani remaining in Solvunn, Ceartais has had to, in the past, taken the journey to greet her there as a sign of his love for her. Couples looking to be wed follow this rite; while one waits in Solvunn, the other travels a great distance to greet them and be wed. Those who follow this ritual believe that they will be blessed by both Vexani and Ceartais, and that their love will prevail any difficulty.
  • Vexani's has many shrines spread across the Solvunn settlements (and perhaps even outside its borders), and she is represented as a deity surrounded by flowers. Those who worship her shrines bring flowers as an offering, and it is said that these flowers—if accepted by Vexani—never wilt.
  • Those who attempt scrying will find themselves praying to Vexani for favorable results when witnessing their visions.

  • history & personality
  • Eight-hundred years worth of memories is too much to contain, and Vexani has—at this point—forgotten many of the in-betweens of her past. She doesn't remember much of her past as a 'human', prior to Abraxas, except for one specific thing: having lost her children. Vexani doesn't remember neither how it happened nor why, and she cannot remember anything but their faces.
  • A few decades before her godhood, she exchanged vows with Matt (now Ceartais) who became her husband. She bore no children, but over the centuries they've adopted orphans and lost children to look after. This union continues to this day, and both gods are considered a pair by their followers; those who prepare rites and pray for Vexani are likely, too, to pray to Ceartais, and vice-versa.
  • Encountering a dead animal in the Witchwood, Vexani used her powers to bring to life what is now her familiar. People will see this odd cat walking around, claiming that Vexani must be nearby. Certainly, it never strays too far from its owner.
  • Vexani is quick to anger over the injustices caused to those she favors. It doesn't matter if these are man-made or simply caused the wheel of time and fate. She gathers a lot of the pain unto herself, when people come to pray to her looking for comfort and a way to amend their grief. Should she encounter a target for her anger, she will mess with their heads—with their memories—and even fracture their minds if they are unconscionably wicked or if she is particularly angered.
  • However, her anger never lasts long. Given who she favors and what she grants to those who seek her, Vexani's personality is vastly different from how she was when mortal. She loves more easily and has more patience to work with. She offers comfort and advice, like a mother would.
