( it brings her some comfort to know that even if someone went out there, to those diffusion zones, it didn't mean they would get one of those hitchhikers with them. )
some people i know are having parts turned into plastic. mine just hangs around and tries scaring me.
[ Namely, Cassian. Rowena. And Karen; Jesus, that had been — something. That thing came looking for him at the shop. Could've been anyone, really, he just happened to be there and all it seemed to wanna do was attack. ]
you've got me if it starts really fucking with you.
that's cool. to be perceived with so much trust. it's almost like she didn't even need to ask for permission; she needs to kick that habit to the curb. )
[ Figures if she wants to and feels good about driving, it's all he needs to know. So, yes, he does trust her on that. Don't much matter to him who's driving. ]
you got stuck with it so you tell me when and you got me.
[ It's a problem to be solved, he'll make it work when she's ready to go. ]
alright. good with that. just tell me where to meet you.
[ Though he can take charge if a situation really called for it, and he'll offer his opinion up if he feels the need, the position he tends to adopt more often than not amongst his crew is that of guarding and following the ones he trusts. So, he'll defer to her. A few hours and they head out — it's quick, yeah, but also makes sense to him to go now, hopefully dump this thing successfully, and come back in the daylight. His own sleep hasn't exactly been normal lately either, so he can manage. Plus, with the two of them, they can take shifts when they need to. ]
( wanda lets him know when and where, and approximately in that stipulated time, she meets him. she's packed a bag, mostly with some actual food, and is currently without her hitchhiker nearby. it will probably pop up while they're driving.
she puts her bag on the backseat, then rounds the car to greet him properly. )
Hey.
( okay, she just stands there awkwardly. )
I've driven cars before, but never a jeep. I'll pick it up quick, though.
[ He's got a bag in the backseat, too, a couple of things he's picked up from the shop, and some food. When she's in front of him, he gives a little nod, wonders if maybe there's something else he should do when he hasn't seen her in a minute. What's their thing? Handshake — Jesus, no.
He lets that go because he's sure bad at this, and now they're both just standing there for a second before he passes the keys over to her and then grabs some zip ties out of his pack so he's got them ready for this thing showing up. ]
It talks, like anything — you'll be good when you get your hands on the wheel. Someone told me these things can rollover easier than a car, it's just the curves you gotta watch for.
( she takes the keys, smiling up at him. it may not seem much, but this is certainly a lot of trust that she thinks he is bestowing upon her. it means a lot. )
I'll drive to the speed limit.
( is what she says at the warning about the curves, before going back towards the driver's side, opening up the door and pulling herself up and in. it's a tall vehicle, so it feels cool.
ignition on, pulling the seat forward a little, buckling up, waiting for amos to get inβand they're headed out towards one of the exit ramps, en route to the mall. it's nighttime, so the streets are a little less busy now in panorama, but it takes a good twenty minutes before they're out into the open road.
wanda feels comfortable driving when she isn't surrounded by other cars. )
It's a little crazy how far away some of these places are.
[ There's a brief, small smile back at her, and a little nod. If they were on the Roci and she asked him if she could tune up the oxygen regulators and he had no idea what she knew or didn't, he might be more hesitant. But this — who knows, maybe he'll learn a thing or two from her on handling it. He's still learning with it.
He watches her get settled as he does the same, and once they're buckled and on their way, Amos leans his seat back a little, stretches out. He ain't seen things from this perspective before, just a passenger watching things go by. Kinda doesn't mind it. ]
Yeah. Time could go real fast or real slow.
[ Could be worse, he thinks. Like, shitty company worse. Still, it's no quick in and out, dump the thing and go. Said thing still — out there somewhere. No hurry, though, it'll catch up to them at some point. ]
What's the furthest you ever been? Anywhere. Before all of — this.
( it probably will go by real slow, and wanda can imagine herself sleeping through some part of it, honestly, once amos takes over driving duties. right now, though? this feels very exciting. to be able to just choose to go and have the freedom to do so, without needing to ask for permission or to wonder if she's allowed.
the prison she had mentioned to amos upon her arrival, perhaps that wasn't the only one she had been confined to. )
Uhm...
( his question does catch her off-guard, though, because it's not something she's ever considered nor quantified, and she now feels a little on the spot, trying to figure out what exactly 'the furthest' was, for her. )
I don't know if you'll recognize all these names, but I went from my home in Europe β Sokovia to America, New York. We flew to Lagos, once. That's in Africa. Germany, too.
( hm. )
It was on a plane all those times. A really fast one.
[ one was found, but β well, they'll find usopp again, sanji believes it. and it figures luffy would be the most difficult to track. ]
nami loves tangerines so i was hoping to pick up some to make some tangerine chicken tonight. and i need to freshen up on ingredients too so i might pass by the shop and say hi.
( that sounds really good, actually. wanda wonders what kind of person nami is, but she seems alright, in all that sanji has told her about his crewmate. )
okay. that sounds delicious. i'm not at the shop today though.
