( they've been traveling for days together, from one airport to the other, and through a series of issues, wanda's sokovian passport has brought her a tumult of stops at the airport security a few times over. with the fate of her home country on the balance, with the uncertainty that it will remain a country, the policies from airport to airport have varied.
at least, she is in a place where they speak english and all signs are, too, in english.
she's not quite detained, but australian authorities won't let her through to join her travelmates in their connecting flight to indonesia, where they'll eventually make their way through to malaysia via bus and ferry. wanda genuinely does not expect them to stop because of herβshe's just a stranger to them, someone who is piggybacking off of their efforts to travel SEA to fulfill her twin brother's dying wish. and so she sits here, alone, in a cold waiting room, with other 'detainees' like herself, scared shitless, while australia decides her fate. someone told her it should be okay, that it'll just take a while, before giving her a granola bar and a water bottle.
but wanda is not reassured.
she sniffles, back so straight her shoulders are stiff, linking her fingers tightly together; tears stream down her face, because she just feels so β so lost, and so alone. )
